Flat battery,got in with Valet key started the Motor fine so far got out and let the door shut. This locked the car up Can’t open it with my spare valet key. Any suggestions

Now I need to just figure out why the keyless entry did not work.
The car sat for the summer, garaged and on a trickle charge. I’ve driven it on the highway several times to fully charge the battery.
Any ideas on how to further troubleshoot the issue? It’s a 2004 SL500 with 98K miles.
